Answers To Commonly Asked Questions About The Adoption Process
Are There Specific Questions One Can Ask In Order To Determine If A Birth Mother
Is Really Committed To An Adoption Plan?
It always goes back to the circumstances and reasons surrounding the birth mother's
decision to place the child for adoption and her willingness to provide you with information.
Naturally, if the birth mother is not willing to discuss the adoption with her doctor,
take a drug test, provide you with her birth certificate and other identifying information
such as a driver's license, social security card, etc., or is only concerned with how
much money she can derive from the adoption plan, it is quite possible that she does
have a hidden agenda.
There are no right or wrong questions. Feel free to ask a birth mother anything and everything.
Explore and uncover wherever possible information about her and why the child is being
placed for adoption. You are forced to rely on your own instincts and those of an
adoption professional. Again, I remind you, there is no crystal ball.
